Museum entry and audio guides: ask two different language questions
Separate the language of a guided tour from the language of an audio guide, and confirm your entry slot, meeting point and included services.

Identify what your ticket is for
A museum visit may involve an entry ticket, a guided tour or an optional audio guide. Instead of asking 'Is there English?', first show the relevant ticket description and name the service you mean.
For example: 'Does this ticket include a guided tour, or only entry?' Then ask 'What language is the tour in?' Availability and inclusions vary by venue and ticket, so use the official booking details or staff's answer rather than a translation app's general knowledge.
Distinguish a device from a person speaking
If you want to listen independently, ask about the audio guide specifically. 'Is the audio guide available in Russian?' is not the same question as 'Does the guide speak Russian?' Check that the translated noun still refers to the intended service.
Ask how the audio guide is accessed and whether it has a separate charge. If it uses your phone, clarify what is required before agreeing. Do not assume an available language means every exhibit has commentary in that language.
Give each time a purpose
An entry slot, a tour start time and a meeting time may be different. Repeat them separately: 'My entry is at 10:30. Does the tour start at 11:00?' These times are examples, not a venue schedule.
Ask where to meet and what staff mean by the location name. A ticket desk, main entrance and group entrance might not be the same place. If you are late, ask the venue about your ticket instead of assuming the next slot is valid.
Finish with a compact visit note
Write down the confirmed service, language, time, meeting point and any extra price. Show that short note back to staff if a detail remains uncertain. It is easier to correct one field than to replay a long conversation at the entrance.
Use translation respectfully during the visit and follow the venue's rules about phones, sound and recording. Do not assume that permission to listen to an audio guide also permits recording a live guide or playing a translation aloud in every room.
