Using a laundry abroad: explain the service before handing over clothes
Discuss washing, drying, delicate items, the quoted price and collection time separately so a translated request does not become the wrong laundry order.

Ask what the service includes
'Please clean these' leaves the method open. Ask whether the service being offered is washing, dry cleaning, drying or ironing. Do not treat those words as interchangeable in a translated conversation.
Show the care label and ask whether the laundry can follow it. If neither of you can interpret a symbol, ask for clarification before agreeing. This conversation guide is not advice on which cleaning method is safe for a particular fabric.
Point out exceptions one item at a time
Separate an item that needs special attention from the rest of the bag. For example, if you have already established the correct care requirement: 'This sweater must not go in a tumble dryer.' Check that 'must not' is still present in the translation.
Ask the employee to confirm the instruction while pointing to that item. A general nod over a full bag does not show which garment the instruction applies to. If the requested method is unavailable, decide what to do before leaving the clothes.
Clarify the price basis and collection time
Ask whether the quoted amount is per item, per bag or by weight, and whether drying or ironing is included. Let the employee write the total and currency. A translated number without its charging unit is not a complete quote.
Replace 'tomorrow afternoon' with the date and a collection time you both confirm. If you leave town that day, say when you need the clothes back and ask whether that timing is possible. Do not translate a hoped-for time as a promise from the shop.
Keep a small handover record
Before leaving, agree on the number of items and ask how your order will be identified. Keep any receipt or collection instructions the laundry gives you. Record a special instruction only after it has actually been accepted.
At collection, compare the returned items with that record before packing them away. If something is missing or differs from the agreement, describe the specific item and instruction calmly. Translation helps explain the issue; it does not determine compensation or the shop's terms.
